| "The minute something happens that could disappoint, frustrate, or even crush us, we have an immediate opportunity to choose our response. And it's the attitude we choose that shapes us, not the circumstances." C. Swindoll | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Some suggestions to help you get the most from your camp experience | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Require the team to remain on site and eat lunch together. They can pack it, parents can bring lunch in, or you can collect money and order subs, pizza, etc. The entire group eats together. No one goes off by themselves. You can even give them discussion topics if you desire. Join them Coaches. This is a great way to get to know your new girls better and encourage interaction between new and returning members. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Pair up new girls with returning girls (Big Sis/LittleSis). Don't reveal who has whom. Have the each girl complete a form with some of their favorite things such as favorite candy bar, favorite drink, favorite flower, etc. During camp week bring a small inexpensive gift for your "Sis" each day. Remember to keep it a secret. On the last day of camp the idenity is revealed. This can then be continued throughout the school year for game days, special occasions, holidays etc. You can decide how much or how little to do. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Choose 3-5 of your most reliable seniors and divide the team into 3-5 groups. The seniors will be squad leaders responsible for the girls in their group. If someone needs help, she would call her squad leader to make arrangements to work with her. The squad leaders can also be responsible for calling their girls with important information that the coach or captain needs to get out. Each squad leader could be assigned one day of camp. They could pass out quotes. They could make small gifts to give the entire team that could be used during the performance season. Some ideas: decorated makeup bags, special name tags for their tote bags, decorated mirrors, satin hangers decorated with fabric paint. The squad leaders could decide what to make, and then work on them together. Coaches, you can watch and give out awards to squads who are quiet while at practice, working hard, smiling, etc. The competition can strengthen the team work ethic as they are rewarded for positive behavior. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Plan an end of camp party. A cookout, swim party, movie, or game night. All of this contributes to team bonding and team building. Both are necessary for a successful season. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
